Goh Chang-yol grew up in the warmth of a widowed mother. He enjoyed drawing and did many good deeds in his youth. However, Chang-yol is imprisoned after being unjustly framed. Afterwards, Chang-yol goes to the Buddhist temple to meet the leading monk Goo-ha. He shaves his head and becomes a Buddhist monk, adapting the Buddhist name Jung-kwang.
