ACF Supports Prospective Asian Filmmakers in Cash Grants and Production Services
Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) Asian Cinema Fund (ACF) announced its 24 selections for 2015. ACF has recruited projects over the past three months in three categories: Script Development Fund, Post-Production Fund and Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund. From a total of 384 entries, 17 Asian and 7 Korean projects were selected.
The Script Development Fund for fiction feature scripts in progress selected 5 Asian projects from 182 applicants this year. The 5 selections will each receive KRW 10 million (USD 10,000) for Script Development Funds including Barzakh (Uzbekistan, France and Tajikistan) by Director Saodat ISMAILOVA, The Orphanage (Afghanistan and Denmark) by Shahbanoo SADA and Smoke on the Water (Japan) by TOMINA Tetsuya.
The Post-Production Fund for feature film projects ready for post-production selected 3 Korean, 2 Asian and 1 Biennale College-Cinema projects. The selected projects will receive postproduction services like Digital Intermediate (DI), sound mixing and Digital Cinema Package (DCP). From this year, English subtitle spotting services will be provided in addition.
ACF selected 2 Asian projects, Leopard Do Not Bite (Sri Lanka) by Prasanna JAYAKODY and Kothanodi (India) by Bhaskar HAZARIKA. It also collaborated with the Venice Film Festival to discover a talented Asian independent film. Blanka (Japan and Philippines) by HASEI Kohki was selected from Biennale College-Cinema this year.
AND Fund which supports Asian full-length documentaries selected 9 Aian and 4 Korean projects.
