IM Ju-hwan, LEE Sung-kyoung, KIM Young-kwang Join Legal Thriller

Following the success of The Con Artists last year, director KIM Hong-sun is set to return with legal thriller Broker. The film has cast a trio of young leads, IM Ju-hwan, LEE Sung-kyoung and KIM Young-kwang, well known for their TV work.

The story centers around the murder of the daughter of the Minister of Justice and the legal theater that surrounds its aftermath as a law firm handling the case is pressured by the government to convict quickly.

Director KIM debuted with the late summer release Traffickers (2012), a mid-level thriller which drew an impressive 1.65 million viewers (USD 10.45 million) to theaters. He followed that up with the slick action-thriller The Con Artists last year, a vehicle for young star KIM Woo-bin which wound up with 2.56 million viewers (USD 16.98 million).

Appearing as the lawyer will be KIM Young-kwang, who has appeared in the films Runway Cop (2012) and Hot Young Bloods (2014) but is far more well known for his appearances on the small screen, which include the K-drama D-Day. Playing the spirited public defender on the other side of the case will be LEE Sung-kyoung, a new TV presence (Flower of the Queen) who will make her film debut. IM Ju-hwan, who appeared in The Con Artists, will play a TV producer seeking the truth behind the case.

Filming is expected to get underway next month with Trinity Entertainment (The Con Artists, Friend : The Great Legacy) handling the production.
