HA Yoon-jae Makes Feature Debut with Black Comedy

New black comedy Punk (Korean title) entered production on June 25. Featuring PARK Yong-woo and character actress CHO Eun-ji, this debut feature film by HA Yoon-jae is expected to hit theaters in early 2019.

PARK will play Jae-goo, a man who is having a hard time while he struggles after borrowing money from his in-laws and opening his dream car center business in the suburbs. Things only get more complicated for him when he finds himself involved in an unexpected incident. CHO is on board as Soon-yeong, a countryside woman who went to the prestigious Seoul National University and wound up marrying Jae-goo.

Veteran actor PARK’s notable credits include KIM Dai-seung’s Blood Rain (2005), CHO Ui-seok’s The World of Silence (2006) and CHO Geun-hyun’s Late Spring (2014). CHO was recently seen in JUNG Byung-gil’s action film The Villainess (2017) and KIM Jin-muk’s thriller TRUE FICTION.

Director HA Yoon-jae worked in several capacities in the film industry before making waves with his 2009 short film Promise of a Spring Day (2009), which screened at the 33rd Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

Punk received independent film support by both the Korean Film Council in 2017 and the Gyeonggi Provincial Promotion Agency in 2018.
