Don LEE Action Thriller Screens at FILMART

Korean sales outfit K-Movie Entertainment has locked several deals on its upcoming action thriller The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil, as first reported in Screen Daily. Featuring TRAIN TO BUSAN (2016) and THE OUTLAWS (2017) star Don LEE (aka MA Dong-seok), the film is the sophomore work of director LEE Won-tae.

The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil has been sold to Klockworx (Japan), Logo Motion Pictures (Thailand, Cambodia and Laos), Splendid Film (Germany, Austria and German-speaking Benelux), Vie Vision Pictures (Taiwan) and Encore Inflight, which picked up the worldwide in-flight rights. The film had its market premiere at the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) this month and is due out in Korean theaters in April.

The film features LEE as a gang boss who becomes the target of a vicious serial killer, played by KIM Sung-kyu (The Accidental Detective 2: In Action, 2018). When he becomes the first person to survive an attack by the killer, he teams up with a detective who hates gangsters to take him down, played by GIM Mu-yeol of Forgotten (2017).

Director LEE debuted two years ago with the Colonial Era prison drama MAN OF WILL (2017), though he previously served in various other capacities in the industry, including as the original author of the period drama The Magician in 2015.
