MICROHABITAT and NIGHT AND FOG IN ZONA Take Directing Prizes
The documentary The Remnants (2018) from directors KIM Il-ran and LEE Hyuk-sang, which chronicles the aftermath of the Yongsan Tragedy of 2009, has earned the Grand Prize at this year’s 6th edition of the Wildflower Film Awards Korea, which was held at the Seoul Literature House on the slopes of Namsan mountain on the evening of Friday, April 12.
JEON Go-woon’s acclaimed debut Microhabitat (2018) earned the Best Director for Narrative Feature Award as well as Best Female Actor for lead E Som. Best Director for Documentary Feature Award winner was JUNG Sung-il for his WANG Bing documentary Night and Fog In Zona (2018).
SUNG Yu-bin earned the Best Male Actor prize for his role in Last Child (2018), whose director SHIN Dong-seok also took home the Best Screenplay Award. Other acting prizes went to LEE Jae-in, who earned the Best New Actor trophy for her role in the Korean Academy of Film Arts production Adulthood (2018), and KIM Sae-byuk, this year’s Best Supporting Actor winner for her part in Hong Sangsoo’s Berlinale-debuted Grass (2018).
