DC’s New Superhero Black Adam, Topped the Weekend Box Office

Life is Beautiful, Ranked 2nd Place Approaching 1 Million Viewers

 


 

Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam topped the box office at the weekend, leading the weekend theater. It is the first time in 3 months since the Hollywood blockbusters such as Top Gun: Maverick and Thor: Love and Thunder topped the weekend box office in theaters, where Korean films have topped the list from summer to fall.

 

According to the Korean Box Office Information System (KOBIS) of the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) on October 24, Black Adam, which topped the box office with its release on October 19, recorded 313,322 viewers with 47.0% of weekend sales. The total audience of the film is 428,032. It has topped the box office for 5 consecutive days since its release date. 

 

Black Adam is a new hero from the DC Extended Universe. It features a spectacular action by Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson), who used to be a slave at the ancient Kahndaq but acquires the power of God, waking up after 5,000 years and fighting against villains. 

 

2nd place is the musical film, Life is Beautiful, starring Ryu Seungryong and Yum Jungah, with 84,818 weekend audiences and 11.1% of sales. Although it fell one step down with the release of Black Adam, Life is Beautiful, which was released on September 28, has remained at the top rank of the box office for nearly a month due to audience interest. The total audience of the film is 980,896, and the green light has been turned on to surpass 1 million viewers. 

 

3rd place is Confidential Assignment2: International, which was released on September 7. 70,056 moviegoers watched the film over the weekend, and its total audience is 6,894,532. 4th place is the animation, Crayon Shin-chan: Shrouded in Mystery! The Flowers of Tenkazu Academy. Although it fell one step down on the rank, the film is enjoying the box office hit steadily with 62,301 weekend viewers and 638,078 audiences in total. 

 

5th place is Everything Everywhere All At Once, a ‘Multiverse’ action comedy, starring Michelle Yeoh. The film rose one step up from last weekend, recording 38,517 viewers over the weekend and reaching 114,503 moviegoers in total after its release. The film, which started at No. 8 at the box office when it was released on October 12, has been gradually reversing the box office due to favorable reviews and word of mouth from the audience. 

 

It depicts the story of an ordinary laundry owner who suffered from the harsh reality and is reborn as the one and only person who will save the world. Hong Kong's leading action star Michelle Yeoh plays the main character, drawing admiration for her infinite acting transformation.
