Appointed as honorary ambassadors for Korean Film Festival in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and China
LEE Je-hoon and TANG Wei are set to meet Chinese audiences. The two young stars have been appointed as honorary ambassadors for the Korean Film Festival, which is going to be held beginning on August 29th in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and China.
Architecture 101, which LEE stars in, has been selected as the opener of the festival. He will meet Chinese audiences at various events throughout the fest including the opening ceremony, at which he, TANG and LEE Yong-zoo, the director of
Architecture 101, will appear on-stage.
TANG, who made her first connections with the Korean film industry when she starred in
Late Autumn(2011), is going to promote Korean films among Chinese moviegoers through her opening ceremony appearance and other interviews. The Korean Film Festival is an occasion to show Korean films to Chinese viewers in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Twelve Korean Films will be screened in theaters in Beijing and Shanghai under the title ‘Korean Films in My Heart’. The films were selected by an online poll conducted on the Chinese film information website M-Time and a questionnaire sent to industry figureheads and film experts. The festival is being co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism and the Chinese State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television and co-managed by the
Korean Film Council (KOFIC), the Korean Cultural Center in China and
CJ E&M.
LEE Chang-dong, director of
Secret Sunshine (2007), and
SONG Hae-sung, director of
Failan(2001) will also attend at the opening ceremony. They will also have a post-screening conversation with the audience. The festival will close on September 16th.
