Korean Indie Will Hit British Home Market in June
SHIN Su-won’s sophomore film
Pluto is gearing up for a limited theatrical run in London. Following invitations to last year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival and London Korean Film Festival,
Pluto will receive a commercial run in the UK capital, courtesy of London-based Asian film purveyor Third Window Films.
The film stars LEE Da-wit as Joon, a teenager attending a prestigious high school where everyone is competing to secure admission to the country’s best universities. Joon discovers that the top students are part of a secret group which exchanges secret notebooks. He desperately tries to enter their circle, but what humiliation will he endure in order to do so?
Pluto had its world premiere at the 17th Busan International Film Festival in 2012, where it was one of the most talked about films. It went on to screen at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it received a Special Mention in the Generation 14plus section. Recently, SHIN’s film also received a theatrical release in France.
The Institute for Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London has booked the Korean indie from June 6th to 17th. Shortly thereafter, on June 23rd, Third Window will release the film on Blu-ray and DVD.
