Korean Action Fare on Show at New York’s Museum of the Moving Image

Five Local Titles over Three Days in the Big Apple

Tomorrow (April 3rd), the Museum of the Moving Image in New York will stage ‘Action Korea’, a showcase of action cinema from Korea. Five titles will screen until April 5th in the event which is co-presented with The Korea Society.

The series will kick off tomorrow evening with the recent period action hit Kundo: Age of the Rampant. From Nameless Gangster (2012) director YOON Jong-bin, the film features HA Jung-woo and GANG Dong-won in a Joseon Era Robin Hood-style tale of robbers and nobility.

Saturday will feature another Joseon Era action film, War of the Arrows (2011), from Roaring Currents director KIM Han-min. Featuring PARK Hae-il, the film was the most successful Korean release of 2011. Next will be JUNG Byung-gil’s high concept revenge thriller Confession of Murder (2012), starring JUNG Jae-young and PARK Si-hoo.

Concluding the series will be The Man From Nowhere and Commitment on Sunday. LEE Jeong-beom’s hitman drama The Man from Nowhere, featuring WON Bin and KIM Sae-ron, proved a massive hit in 2010 while PARK Hong-soo’s Commitment is a North Korean spy action-drama with CHOI Seung-hyun (aka Kpop star T.O.P.).
