Netflix Takes Enters into LUCID DREAM

2nd Korean Acquisition for Online Streaming Giant

Current sci-fi thriller Lucid Dream has become only the second Korean film to enter into a distribution contract with online streaming giant Netflix. The film, which debuted in Korean theaters on February 23rd, will be exclusively offered in Netflix’s 190 global markets.

KO Soo leads the cast as a man crushed in the wake of his son’s disappearance. Three years later, he is led towards a new investigation technique called ‘lucid dreaming’ through which he hopes to find a clue to his son’s whereabouts.

Beyond KO, whose major credits include The Front Line (2011), Lucid Dream features veteran star SUL Kyung-gu of A Peppermint Candy (2000) and the Public Enemy series as well as former K-pop star PARK Yoo-chun, who debuted on screen in the BONG Joon-ho-produced maritime thriller Haemoo (2014).

Lucid Dream is the featured length directorial debut of KIM Joon-sung, who built his reputation through well-received short films. He is currently working on the script for his next project Seoul, which will take place during the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Jessica LEE, the Vice President of communications for Netflix Asia, stated that: “We are looking forward to Lucid Dream becoming a movie that’ll receive great love from audiences all around the world through Netflix.”

The news follows a similar deal for last year’s disaster drama Pandora. Both arrangements were secured by Contents Panda, the international arm of Korean studio Next Entertainment World. Lucid Dream debuted at seventh place at the Korean box office, with 27,000 entries on its opening day.
