United Pictures Boards ROMANS 8:37

New SHIN Yeon-shick Drama Launches in HK Filmart

During this year’s Hong Kong International Film and TV Market, Korean distributor United Pictures announced that they have picked up Romans 8:37 (working title), the new title from indie filmmaker SHIN Yeon-shick.

The film concerns a church minister who becomes embroiled in a contentious relationship with his corrupt predecessor. Romans 8:37 takes its title from the Bible verse which reads “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

The project features LEE Hyun-ho, who has featured in most of SHIN’s films, and SEO Dong-gab, who has appeared in a variety of works, including All Bark, No Bite (2012), Venus Talk (2014) and last year’s Proof of Innocence

Director SHIN reached a larger audience last year when he wrote and produced the Colonial Era drama DONGJU; The Portrait of A Poet from director LEE Joon-ik. He has made five films in the past, including the Jeonju Cinema Project The Avian Kind (2015), the informal Rough Cut (2008) sequel Rough Play (2013) and the omnibus Like a French Film (2016). SHIN’s latest is currently in post-production.

United Pictures was also in town to support other films, including the new 80s-set thriller Ordinary Person and sports drama SPLIT, both of which had market screenings in Filmart.
