Clermont-Ferrand Welcomes 3 Korean Shorts to Competition

(OO), HOME WITHOUT ME and THREE ROOM to Screen in France

The 40th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, which will take place over February 2-10, will welcome three Korean short films to its international competition this year, OH Seo-ro's animation (OO) (2017) and the fiction shorts Home without Me (2017) by KIM Hyun-jung and LEE Na-yeon’s Three Room (2017).

Animated work (OO) takes a trip through the inner workings of someone's nostrils. The film picked up the YOO Kwang-sun Prize and the AniB's Choice Cheongju University President's Prize at the Bucheon International Animation Festival. Director OH’s previous work Afternoon Class (2015) screened at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival and World Festival of Animated Film ANIMAFEST ZAGREB, among others.

KIM’s Home without Me takes place in spring 1998 and follows 11-year-old Sae-young who wants to be a girl scout, despite objections from her sister. The film has screened widely at festivals in Korea, and picked up the Grand Prize in the ‘A short film about love’ section of the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival and the Busan Cinephile Award from the Busan International Short Film Festival.

Three Room chronicles a separated family that seeks a place to live together. The film screened at the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival and followed director LEE’s Nailing It (2016), which screened at several festivals in Korea.

Korean films have been prominent at Clermont-Ferrand over the years, and the festival’s coveted Grand Prize went to YOON Ga-eun’s short film Guest in 2011.
