Period Monster Feature stars KIM Myung-min, CHOI Woo-shik
Finecut will launch sales on the period creature feature Monstrum (translated title) at the European Film Market (EFM) during the Berlin International Film Festival later this month. The big-budget title is the third work of Countdown (2011) director HEO Jong-ho and features KIM Myung-min, PARK Hee-soon and CHOI Woo-shik among others. Finecut will preview promotional footage of the title during EFM.
Set during the Joseon Era, the film finds a ragtag group of individuals attempting to defend the capital from a man-eating monster. Budgeted at over USD 11 million, the film is the latest production from film company TAEWON ENTERTAINMENT, which last ventured into theaters with the Korean War film Operation Chromite in 2016 and is also responsible for the five-part comedy franchise Marrying the Mafia (2002-2012), among others.
CHOI Woo-shik, after breaking out in the indie Set Me Free (2014), has featured in major titles such as TRAIN TO BUSAN (2016) and BONG Joon-ho’s international project Okja, both of which bowed at the Cannes Film Festival, in 2016 and 2017, respectively. He will be back on screens in Golden Slumber this month and will soon start shooting Parasite, director BONG’s next project.
