NCSoft Invests USD 19.7 million in VFX Company 4th Creative Party

The two companies revealed plans to promote various contents



Korean visual effect technology firm, 4th Creative Party (www.4thparty.co.kr), which has participated in the production of major Korean movies, including BONG Joon-ho’s Okja (2017), Snowpiercer (2013) and The Host (2006) as well as PARK Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden (2016), Thirst (2009) and Old Boy (2003), attracted a large-scale investment from the nation’s leading game developer NCSoft (http://global.ncsoft.com/global/). “NCSoft has invested USD 19.7 million in the visual effects firm 4th Creative Party, the country’s best visual effects technology expert” NCSoft officially announced on July 2nd. 

Established in 2009, 4th Creative Party has participated in more than 180 movies and prove itself to be one of Korea’s top visual effects tech companies. The firm has recently branched out into new areas of digital media including animation, special effects for theme parks and virtual reality content production. As a global game developer, NCSoft holds important intellectual property assets with games such as ‘Lineage’ and ‘Blade & Soul’. It has made efforts to make strategic investments in local game startups, content platform, and production to secure future technology and business engines. 

This latest investment in 4th Creative Party is a part of NCSoft’s strategy to make their intellectual properties (IP) in animation films. The two companies also revealed plans to promote various contents and share the latest VFX technologies with other production structures with the same vision. 

“Global company NCSoft has intellectual property, digital media technologies, infrastructures and service expertise. Our collaboration will be an opportunity for both sides to make a leap as a comprehensive media content group,” said LEE Jeon-hyoung, CEO of 4th Creative Party.
