SWING KIDS and BEAUTIFUL DAYS to Bookend Florence Korean Film Festival

JUNG Woo-sung and KIM Jee-woon to Take Part in Masterclass in Italy


The Florence Korean Film Fest 2019, which will take place from March 21 to 29, has revealed this year’s lineup. Opening the program will be KANG Hyoung-cheol’s Korean War-era tap dance musical war drama Swing Kids (2018), while Jero YUN’s Beautiful Days (2018), the opening film of last year’s Busan International Film Festival, will wind things down to a close eight days later.

Among the major guests in Florence this year will be superstar JUNG Woo-sung, who will be the subject of a retrospective of some of his major starring roles, including KIM Sung-soo’s Beat (1997) and Asura : The City of Madness (2016), John H. LEE’s A Moment To Remember (2004), YIM Pil-sung’s Scarlet Innocence (2014), HAN Jae-rim’s The King (2017) and KIM Jee-woon’s ILLANG : THE WOLF BRIGADE (2018). Director KIM Jee-woon will also join JUNG in Italy for a special masterclass between the Korean cinema giants.

This year’s lineup will also include a range of current indie and commercial titles, including big names such as YOON Jong-bin’s The Spy Gone North (2018), LEE Chang-dong’s BURNING (2018), PARK Hoon-jung’s The Witch : Part 1. The Subversion (2018), Hong Sangsoo’s Hotel by the River and KIM Ki-duk’s Human, Space, Time and Human (2018).

Other commercial titles on the program include JUNG Bum-shik’s GONJIAM: Haunted Asylum (2018), KIM Tae-gyun’s Dark Figure of Crime (2018), CHOO Chang-min’s Seven Years of Night (2018) and NOH Dong-seok’s Golden Slumber (2018), while the indie sector of Korean film will be represented by KWON Man-ki’s Clean Up (2018), HA Yoon-jae’s NAILED (2018), KIM Hyoung-jin’s The Uncle (2018), KIM Ui-seok’s After My Death (2018), LEE Ji-won’s Miss Baek (2018), BOO Ji-young’s Cart (2014) and KIMJHO Gwang-soo’s Two Weddings and a Funeral (2012).
