BOOMERANG FAMILY Novelist Makes Long-Awaited Directing Debut
Hee-soo (JUNG Woo) is a man who grows up in the Busan area and gets swept up into a life of organized crime in a port city, where he works as a hotel manager. Hee-soo wants to settle down with In-sook (YOON Ji-hye), but his plans are put on hold when he gets caught up in a gang war. The story of the film is based on a novel by KIM Un-su.
CHEON originally worked as a screenwriter in the 1990s on films such as I Wish For What Is Forbidden To Me (1994), Gun and Gun (1995) and The Great Chef (1999) but after failing to make his debut as a filmmaker, he turned to fiction writing, establishing himself as an important novelist in the 21st century. His novel ‘Modern Family’ was adapted into the 2013 film Boomerang Family and Hot Blood marks his long-awaited debut as a filmmaker.
Hot Blood is currently in post-production and is aiming to hit theaters in the first half of 2020.
