Twenty from student director
KIM Min-ju has been selected as part of the Cinefondation lineup of this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The film is one of 17 student shorts invited to the competition this year and was chosen among 1952 entries.
KIM’s 22-minute film follows a girl on the eve of her 20th birthday and what happens to her when she is brought to a cheap motel by friends. Director KIM is currently attending Soongsil Unversity in Seoul.
A competition section for student films that was first launched in 1998, this year’s Cinefondation will take place in the fall and the jury will be announced at a later date. The Cannes Film Festival usually takes place in May but owing to the COVID-19 crisis, the event was cancelled. An official selection was announced, which includes the Korean films
