Yoo Ha Heist Film with Seo Inguk Sold to America
Following its domestic theatrical release in May, the new heist film Pipeline is getting ready to meet international audiences after scoring a raft of distribution deals. Sales agent Finecut announced that the film, from veteran filmmaker Yoo Ha, has signed contracts for 12 foreign territories.
Among the announced buyers for Pipeline were 815 Pictures (the United States), Klockworx (Japan), Deep Joy Picture Corporation (Taiwan), and Clover Films Distribution, which picked up the film for Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
Pipeline opened in select California theaters on May 28 and in Singapore on June 3. It is also expected to go on release in Vietnam and Malaysia throughout the rest of June.
Yoo’s film focuses on a crack team of thieves who seek to steal oil being transported through a valuable pipeline. Recruited by a wealthy oil magnate with a score to settle, the team goes against the odds to find their way to the black gold flowing under the ground.
The film is the eighth feature from director Yoo Ha, known for classics such as Marriage Is a Crazy Thing (2002), Spirit of Jeet Keun Do - Once Upon a Time in High School (2004), and A Dirty Carnival (2006).
Leading the film are the young stars Seo Inguk and Lee Soohyuk, who are currently appearing together in the hit tvN K-drama Doom at Your Service.
