Actors Ryu Junyeol and Jeon Yeobeen, Confirmed as Hosts for the Opening Ceremony of the 27th Busan International Film Festival

Actors Ryu Junyeol and Jeon Yeobeen have been confirmed as hosts of the opening ceremony of the 27th Busan International Film Festival, which will be held at the Busan Cinema Center on October 5 (Wed). Both actors have a deep connection with the Busan International Film Festival. Ryu Junyeol was invited to the Today-Panorama section for Korean films at the 20th Busan International Film Festival for One Way Trip (2015), and Jeon Yeobeen won the Actress of the Year Award at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival for After My Death (2018).

After debuting with Socialphobia (2015), Ryu Junyeol began a leading actor in commercial films starting with The King in 2017, and entered the ranks of 10-million viewer actors, a measure of box office success, through The Taxi Driver. Since then, he has been active in all genres, including Hit-and-Run Squad, Money, The Battle: Roar to Victory, and the most recently released Alienoid.

Actor Jeon Yeobeen made her debut with the 2015 film The Treacherous, and for After My Death in 2018, she swept the New Actress of the Year at the leading film festivals in Korea, including the Dae Jong Film Awards, the Buil Film Awards, etc. Since then, she has been building her filmography step by step, including Night in Paradise (2019), the official invitation to the 77th Venice International Film Festival, the drama Be Melodramatic (2019), and most recently, Vincenzo (2021). In addition, Jeon Yeobeen will meet with the audience in Busan with Netflix's Glitch (2022), the official invitation to the on-screen section of the Busan International Film Festival this year.

The 27th Busan International Film Festival will return to its pre-Pandemic film festival for the first time in 3 years. While complying with the current quarantine guidelines, it will hold a normal film festival that uses 100% of the seats without social distancing. Events and programs, including the opening and closing ceremonies, will take place normally, and the festival will invite overseas guests, issue film festival badges, and sell tickets on an annual basis.

The 27th Busan International Film Festival, which is set to be held normally for the first time in 3 years, will be held for 10 days from the opening ceremony on October 5 (Wed) to October 14 (Fri) around the Busan Cinema Center.
