The film, Next Sohee, won 3 prizes at the 42nd France Amiens International Film Festival, including the Audience Award, Special Mention Award & UPJV (Université de Picardie Jules Verne) Reference Award.
Next Sohee was selected as the closing film of the 26th Fantasia International Film Festival in Canada and won 2 prizes, including Best Director and the Audience Award. It is noteworthy that Next Sohee is winning the Audience Awards one after another because it means the film has drawn universal sympathy from audiences all over the world, transcending countries, genders, and age groups.
Next Sohee tells the story of Sohee (Kim Sieun), a high school student who goes to a call center for hands-on experience, and Detective Yoojin (Bae Doona), who investigates the truth about what happened to Sohee. The film was selected as the closing film of the Critics' Week at the Festival de Cannes for the first time in a Korean film last May and received enthusiastic reviews for its deep empathy and resonant feeling all over the world.
Also, Next Sohee was the only Korean invitation to the 2nd Red Sea Film Festival, which was held from the 1st to the 10th of December. Director Jung July, Actor Kim Sieun, and Producer Kim Dongha attended the festival and had a meaningful time with the local audiences.
Next Sohee, which delivers a series of good news from international film festivals around the world, is scheduled to be released in early 2023 to meet Korean audiences.
