LEE Je-hoon was one of the most talented gems discovered within the Korean film industry in 2011. He swept away all the “Best New Actor Award” at various local award ceremonies that year. In 2009, LEE played the main character in a short gay film <Just Friends?>. He later revealed his innate acting potential in the breakout independent film <Bleak Night> (2010) and the Korean War blockbuster <The Front Line> (2011). LEE was most impressive in <Bleak Night> where he plays a character who turns from a laughing friend to an angry foe in a matter of seconds, and also in <The Front Line> as Il-young, a naive soldier who turns into a “war machine” by learning the brutality of war first-hand. Moviegoers cheered excitedly to see a new movie idol who had both the intense gaze and soft sensibility. LEE has no doubt grown to become a new leading actor in the Korean film industry. LEE next appeared in the smash hit melodrama <Architecture 101> in 2012, the same year he appeared in the horror-comedy <Ghost Sweepers>. He appeared in two more films, the drama <My Paparotti> with HAN Suk-kyu and the noir mystery <An Ethics Lesson> before he began his obligatory two-year military service. On his return from the army, he took on the lead role in <Phantom Detective>, the third film from director JO Sung-hee. A reworking of the Detective Hong Kil-dong story, LEE stars as the titular detective, who possesses an incredible memory and a very unique personality.
