Gender : Female

Nationality : South Korea

Born in 1970, LEE Hang-na graduated from Dongguk University in Theater and Film, and in 1993, she and several classmates decided to apply together for a Master’s degree at the prestigious Mikhail Shchepkin Higher Theatre School in Moscow. There, they created their own troupe, Théâtre Nori, with which LEE gave her first public performance in front of an ethnic Korean audience. In 1995, she competed at the Geochang International Festival of Theater with a production of <Waiting for Godot> she performed along with young Russian actors. After she returned to Korea in 1996, she made her debut in Daehangno, Seoul’s theater district, when she joined the original cast of the first production of <Come See Me>, the award-winning play that BONG Joon-ho would later adapt in <Memories of Murder> (2003). After that, LEE and Théâtre Nori prepared their first public production in Korea, <The Night Before the Wedding>, which was made with a budget of KRW 2 million (less than USD 2,000) and shown in a small theater they would borrow for free every Monday. They followed it up in 1999 with an adaptation of the Japanese manga <Glass Mask>, for which LEE won the Dong-a Theater Award for Best Acting. It was also in 1999 that she made her film debut, in PARK Jong-won’s drama <Rainbow Trout> (1999), before moving to television in 2001 with the series <Still Love>. She remained all but absent from the screens for the next decade, and it was only in 2013, with the courtroom drama <The Attorney> (2013), that she really launched her film career. Since then, she has become a regular support player, with notable appearances in the indie sports drama <Fourth Place> (2014) and the occult thriller <SVAHA: THE SIXTH FINGER> (2018). She landed one of the lead roles in <BEYOND THE MOUNTAIN> (2019) after she was personally recommended by none other than BONG Joon-ho.
