Born in 1976, Cho was first active as an actor of the Busan-based company Eastward when he was in college. It was around that time that he first played against a Kim Yunseok. After around 10 years performing in Busan, he joined the Seoul Municipal Theater. Cho Jinwoong got his start in the movie <Once Upon a Time in High School>. In 2009, starting with the drama <The Sons of Sol Pharmacy House>, Jinwoong became busy filming dramas and movies. Since <The Sons of Sol Pharmacy House>, Jinwoong has appeared in many dramas including <Hot Blood>, <The Slave Hunters>, <A Man Called God>, and <Flames of Ambition>, and he also was busy filming movies including <Busan>, <Best Seller>, and <GLove>. Cho drew praise for his supporting role in Jang Joonhwan’s directing comeback <Hwayi: A Monster Boy> in 2013. As well as appearing in the big period blockbusters <Roaring Currents> and <Kundo: Age of the Rampant>, Cho took on his biggest roles yet in 2014, in Cannes Film Festival Director’s Fortnight selected thriller <A Hard Day>, as the main antagonist, and as one of the dual leads in Jang Jin’s <We Are Brothers>. Cho next appeared in the elderly romance <Salut d’Amour>, from <TaeGukGi: Brotherhood of War> (2004) filmmaker KANG Je-gyu, and he was back in blockbuster mode for CHOI Dong-hoon’s <Assassination> (2015) in the summer of 2015. Cho then landed a coveted role in the new Park Chanwook thriller <The Handmaiden> (2016). In <The Sheriff In Town> (2016), Cho’s acting range was put to good use as he was playing a smooth-talking entrepreneur who might or might not be a devil in disguise. 2017 saw him begin to rip the fruits of his labor, as he joined the main cast of several of the most highly anticipated thrillers around that time, <Bluebeard>, <Believer> and <The Spy Gone North> (2017), the latter of which released in 2018 to much critical acclaim. After he showed again his comedy-acting chops in the hit chamber piece comedy <Intimate Strangers> (2018). His newfound popularity most likely contributed to the success of Chung Jiyoung’s <BLACK MONEY> (2019), which went well beyond its niche as a financial thriller to attract 2.5 million people upon its release. In 2020, he was cast in <The Devil’s Deal>, the latest thriller from Lee Wontae.
