Born in 1983, Seo Hyunwoo was a kid with a hot temperament; indeed, he grew extremely frustrated and tired of studying constantly at his boarding middle school, but he found a healthy outlet in the acting class he joined one day by chance. While studying English Literature in college, he caused a commotion at home when he suddenly announced that he would pursue an acting career. After spending some working part-time as a bartender in Daehangno – Seoul’s famous theater district – as a way to get acquainted with actors performing in the area, he eventually entered the theatre department of the Korea National University of Arts. He first appeared on screens in 2011, playing minor roles in the horror film <White>, the war drama <The Front Line> and the romcom <Love Fiction>. Among his most notable credits during that early period as a bit part actor are <The Face Reader> (2013), <Hope> (2013), <A Hard Day> (2013) and <Veteran> (2014). It was for his role in <FATAL INTUITION> (2015) that he was first noticed, and this helped him land more important roles. He was particularly busy in 2017 with <1987: When the Day Comes>, <The Vanished> and <Believer>. In 2018, he appeared as part of the main cast of the indie coming-of-age drama <A Boy and Sungreen> (2018). He became one of the busiest supporting actors in 2019, with an impressive run of appearances in titles of note that include as the courtroom drama <Juror 8>, the disaster blockbuster <ASHFALL>, the comedy <SECRET ZOO> and the critically acclaimed historical thriller <The Man Standing Next>, the latter of which saw him incarnate the soon-to-be President of the Republic of Korea Chun Doohwan. He went on with supporting credit in the fantasy action <Spiritwalker> (2020) and he recently gained further recognition when he was cast in Park Chanwook’s <Decision to Leave> (2022). He was promoted to leading roles for the thriller series <Flower of Evil>, soon followed by the noir film <THUNDERBIRD> (2021). More recently, he showed off his comic chops in the political comedy <Honest Candidate 2> (2022).
